Steen Bertil
Abstract
Background: To compare the motor performance of cohorts, born 8 years apart, when they were at equivalent ages 70, 78. in Gotheborg, Sweden

Methods: A total 307 elderly men with relatively healthy who were from two birth cohorts between 1926(170) and 1934(137) were selected. Their motor performance was measured by the Postural-Locomotion-Manual test, using optoelectronic technique.

Results: Individuals in older cohort were found significant differences in the movement time, manual phase of PLM test, and simultaneous index compared with younger cohort (P£¼0.05) but non-significant in postural phase and locomotion phase between two cohorts.

Conclusion: Motor performance in elderly men is decreased in more aged population than younger aged population and the movement time and the arm movement and the motor coordination is a potent influence comparing to the time for raising the body and walking forward.
